About a hundred asylum seekers carrying signs and placards that said, among other things, “We re-spect you”, assembled in front of the police headquarters in Oulu on Tuesday afternoon.
The asylum seekers wanted to show gratitude to Finland and to point out that not all refugees are criminals, said Sergeant Eeva Törmänen of the Oulu police.
The asylum seekers marched to the site from the Hiukkavaara emergency housing unit.
Police said the demonstration was very constructive and proceeded peacefully.
