A woman in her 30s was raped in the street in Espoo last weekend. The incident occurred overnight between Friday and Saturday, but the police would not divulge information regarding the case.
Two men in their early 20s are suspected of the rape. The District Court on Thursday remanded them into police custody.
The senior investigating officer, Detective Chief Inspector Matti Puputti said incidents of rape that take place in public areas are fairly rare.
The custody proceedings were reported on Thursday by Iltalehti, a Finnish language tabloid.
