Eighty asylum seekers were evacuated from a refugee reception center in Tampere, southwest Finland, after a fire that broke out early Thursday morning, local media reported.

Police told Finnish national broadcaster Yle that the fire started in the stairwell of the reception center. Police evacuated all of the 80 asylum seekers living in the building, as the residential area was filled with smoke. No casualties were found.

The residents were allowed to get back to the building after the fire was brought under control by firefighters later in the morning.

There had been a power outage in the area, where the reception building was located. Police said the fire was probably caused by improper use of fire, but the possibility of deliberate sabotage could not be ruled out.

In the end of November and the beginning of December, two suspected arson attacks targeting planned reception centers were reported. One was in Kankaanpaa, western Finland, and the other was in Rauma in the southwest.
