A 36-year-old man died in police custody in Turku last week, said the police.
The man was arrested on Wednesday night and taken into custody due to public intoxication.
The police said, sensing a critical condition, the officer on duty called an ambulance, but the doctor declared him dead.
The investigation into the death has been transferred to the Inner-Finland police, in accordance with instructions from the Police Board.
A prosecutor will determine whether the police officers and security guards acted in accordance with the law.
The police did not disclose detail about the death.
