Con men disguised as police officers have been swindling money from elderly people in Helsinki.
According to the police, the scheme was carried out by selecting elderly victims over the age of 80.
The police said the con men either called their victims asking for bank cards and codes or rang the doorbell at the houses of the elderly persons inquiring about property and money.
The victims were first called over phone before the arrival of the fraudsters at their homes.
The victims, for instance, were told fabricated stories of how their bank codes had been copied.
The fraudsters did not have police credentials.
