A total of 229 people were killed in road traffic accidents in 2014 which is about thirty less than in the year 2013, according to Statistics Finland.

The number of deaths on the roads has remarkably dropped since the 1990s when fatalities were more than 400 annually.

In 2014, a total of 41 persons died in accidents and 576 were injured, of which 69 per cent seri-ously.

The number of cyclists' road traffic deaths was 27 last year compared to 20 deaths in 2013.

In 2014, a total of 36 pedestrians were killed in road traffic accidents which is two more than in the previous year.
