One person was killed in an accident between a passenger car and a truck at Kangasniemi in South-Savo on Friday morning.
The victim was a male driver of the passenger car, said the Eastern-Finland police.
The police are investigating the cause of the accident.
Meanwhile, road conditions were poor in many places on Friday and cars across the country veered off the roads.
Most accidents avoided serious personal injuries. Traffic was congested on Highway 4 at Mäntsälä as well as the Highway 3 interchange at Kannelmäki.
An accident on Highway 3 involved several vehicles and caused a traffic jam, said the Finnish Transport Agency.
The Finnish Meteorological Institute had warned earlier that driving conditions would greatly worsen in large swaths of the country.
