The main opposition Suomen Sosialidemokraattinen Puolue (Social Democratic Party of Finland-SDP) is currently the most popular party in the country, according to survey commissioned by Finnish language daily Helsingin Sanomat.

SDP tops the popularity list for the first time since 2008.

The party support increased by almost seven percentage points from previous survey conducted in August.

According to the survey, SDP currently enjoys 21.1 percent of voters support, followed by the Suomen Keskusta (Centre Party) with 20.9 percent of the support.

The Kansallinen Kokoomus (National Coalition Party) is third with voters support base of 17.7 percent.

The popularity of the Perussuomalaiset (Finns Party) slightly declined at nearly 11 percent.

The survey was conducted by TNS Gallup in November and December interviewing a total of 2,424 persons. The margin of error was approximately +/-2 percent.
