FTimes-STT Report, Dec 20

The ministers of the government have made about 110 trips abroad since the three-party alliance government assumed power on May 29, reported MTV.

According to the MTV report, the cost of the trips made by 13 members of the 14-member cabinet is estimated at nearly 600,000 euros.

The major share of the costs derived from private and Finnish Defence Force flights.

Part of the money, however, came from the European Union, which reimburses the travel costs of EU meetings.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Timo Soini, also the chairman of Perussuomalaiset (Finns Party), the second largest component of the government was found the most active traveller during the period. He has made 16 trips to 12 different countries.

Prime Minister Juha Sipilä, the chairman of Suomen Keskusta (Centre Party), the main component of the government was in second of the list of foreign tours followed by

Finance Minister Alexander Stubb, the president of Kansallinen Kokoomus (National Coalition Party).

Sipilä has used private planes oftener than the rest.

Social Affairs and Health Minister Hanna Mäntylä has not made any trips abroad in her official duties so far.

MTV investigated the ministerial travels from the end of May to the end of November.
