The European Union has granted Finland euro eight million in emergency funds to support the management of the large number of asylum seekers in Finland. The money is intended for, among other things, accommodating the asylum seekers.

The EU has also allocated Sweden with euro 35 million while Belgium only 5 million.

This grant comes on top of previously allocated support for Finland's asylum seekers. Finland has been granted euro 23 million for the period of 2014-2020 to deal with problems relating to immigration.

The corresponding figures for Sweden and Belgium are euro 118 million and euro 89 million respectively.
