Public confidence in Prime Minister Juha Sipilä, who came into office in May, has plummeted drastically, according to an opinion poll run by Rural Futures.

Compared to the chairmen of other major parties, Sipilä is still number one, but his long lead has dissipated since the spring.

Only 28 per cent of the respondents approved Sipilä’s work so far in the role of prime minister.

On a scale of one to five, Sipilä’s confidence rate stands at 2.5, compared to 3.4 in the spring.

Suomen Sosialidemokraattinen Puolue (Social Democratic Party of Finland-SDP) Chairman Antti Rinne is second on the list, only 0.1 point behind Sipilä.

Perussuomalaiset Chair Timo Soini scored 2.3, and Kookomus President Alexander Stubb 2.1. Trust in Stubb has fallen, but Soini has thus far avoided slipping.

Over a thousand Finns responded to the confidence polls at the end of November.
