FTimes-STT Report, Feb 21

A drunken man stole a taxi early Saturday morning from the Seinäjoki Travel Centre taxi queue, said the police.

The chain of events began when the taxi driver left his car in the taxi queue and went inside the taxi stand.

The Kauhajoki man got in the taxi and drove off, with the taxi driver giving chase in another car.

About a mile from the Travel Centre, at the corner of Ruukintie and Siipipyöräkatu, the drunken man almost ran over two cyclists.

Soon after, the taxi crashed into a tree. The drunken man was injured in the crash and transported to hospital in an ambulance.

He seriously exceeded the speed limit under the influence of alcohol, according to his breath analyser reading.

The police are asking the two cyclists who narrowly avoided an accident with the taxi to please contact them.
