Writing in his blog, the prime minister said he had no direct equity holdings and, therefore, he does not need to pay dividend tax. “I do not receive dividend income, therefore no taxes can be levied from them,” Sipilä wrote. The claims on the outstanding dividend tax were made in the national broadcasters Yle’s investigative programme MOT. MOT, however, retracted the claim admitting that the premier would not pay dividend tax this spring, because he is not among those expected to pay. According to Sipilä, the incorrect information was also presented during the parliamentary question time and in several papers.
