Finns are interested to make bequests to charity. The interest to make donations has been increasing over the past year due to an organised campaign to share information regarding legacies.

For example, the environmental group WWF, the children’s rights organisation Plan and the human rights organisation Amnesty International have reported more contacts than ever before who are planning to make donations.

However, the income of the organisations has not been significantly affected, since the donations can start to come only after many years.

The experiences of the first year for the 14-organisation Hyvä Testamentti (Good Testament) campaign has been very encouraging, said the campaign coordinator, Pia Tornikoski.

For example, the campaigns law expert has received many inquiries via the hyvatestamentti.fi website.

The campaign’s law firm partner drew up wills on a weekly basis, in which one of the organisations was a beneficiary.

In addition, they received bequests from other wills as well.
