The Hyrylä murder trial has begun on Wednesday at the Tuusula District Court. 
 
The prosecutor demanded punishment of the defendant for murder, armed robbery and drug offenses.
 
The accused man has admitted to manslaughter but rejects the murder charge. According to his lawyer, the defendant remembers going on a night out and having attacked someone.
 
A woman returning home from a restaurant was killed in late November last year in the Hyrylä district of Tuusula. According to the indictment, the woman was stabbed 41 times. She was stabbed 15 times on the heart and 7 times on the liver. One of the blows she sustained broke a vertebrae and severed her spinal cord.
 
In addition to the bloody act, two handbags were taken from the woman. The defendant says that the act was not a violent robbery but a simple theft.
 
The deceased's two children have both claimed damages of more than 20,000 euros from the defendant.
