Some customers may continue to receive their mail up to 6 pm, reported a Finnish language daily Turun Sanomat.

According to the newspaper, the Postal authority will reform their basic distribution throughout the whole country by April 25. The distribution times will extend until 6 pm.

“The latest mail may arrive closer to 6 pm,” said the Postal services area manager Hannu Riihimäki.

The reform will not affect the majority of customers. It will mostly affect mail delivery in sparsely populated areas.

The Postal authority is justifying their reforms on changing customer needs and a decline in volume. In addition, the reform aims to increase business from those whom the new distribution schedule gives a better chance.

Even now, the Post delivers meals and grocery bags in certain localities.

According to Riihimäki, there are plans to include, for example, nursing ser-vices.
