According to the Central Finland rescue services, a boat capsized near the Lahdenpohjantie swimming beach, sending several people into the water.
The rescue department was dispatched to the scene at 5:30pm.
Some of those who fell in the water reached the shore, but on the way to the scene, rescue services were informed that one person had sunk below the surface of the water.
Water divers and surface rescuers pulled the victim out of the water shortly after 6:00pm. The Central Finland Police Department is investigating the cause of death.
