Two people were burnt to death in a fire that broke out in a sauna cabin at Mäntyharju in South Savo in between late Wednesday night and early Thursday, the police said on Saturday.
The sauna cabin is situated on the shore of Varpanen pond.
The police are investigating both the fire and deaths as accidents.
According to officials, the investigation is still ongoing, and more information will be given when the identities of the deceased have been confirmed, and the course of events and the cause of the fire determined.
The police are asking for any information or witnesses related to the fire and requested to please contact the Eastern Finland police.
