A young man allegedly killed his mother at Lönnrontinkatu area in Helsinki on Sunday, police said on Wednesday.
The 19-year-old boy was arrested and taken to the custody of health care authorities.
According to police, the homicide was revealed early Sunday morning on Lönnrontinkatu. The act had occurred earlier that night.
The suspect, born in 1997, was detained early Sunday in Helsinki.
According to police, he has spoken tentatively of the course of events.
The victim was a woman born in 1953.
