Prime Minister Juha Sipilä on Tuesday said despite the Brexit vote, there is definitely a place for Britain outside the EU.

According to Sipilä, the EU is preparing for Britain’s exit.

British procrastination, however, in launching formal separation proceedings has raised doubts about whether the separation will become a reality at all.

British Prime Minister David Cameron said in Brussels that Britain is leaving the EU, but is not going to turn its back on the partner countries.

Sipilä believes that Britain’s future relationship with the EU will resemble and retain several elements of existing agreements between the EU and non-member countries.

“I also believe that there will be freedom of movement elements,” Sipilä said on Tuesday in Brussels, where EU leaders have gathered.

While Brexit supporters have hoped that Britain would retain access to the EU internal market, free movement and increasing immigration are anathema to them.

EU leaders have stressed that free movement of workers is an integral part of the internal market, and that there can be no compromise.
