The decline in support for the main opposition party Suomen Sosialidemokraattinen Puolue (Social Democratic Party of Finland-SDP) which began in the early summer has accelerated, according to a poll by the Finnish newspaper Helsingin Sanomat.
The support for SDP now stands at 18.7 per cent, down one percentage point from that in last October.
According to the Helsingin Sanomat, part of the SDP’s support base has moved to the Vasemmistoliitto (Left Alliance), whose support is now nine per cent.
The government coalition parties have risen slightly in support, now garnering more than 48 per cent.
A total of 2,400 people responded to the TNS Gallup poll in June and July. The margin of error is two percentage points.
