Irregularities have been detected at a refugee reception centre at Kangasvuori in Jyväskylä where the inmates are allegedly being deprived of various rights.

The issues came into light when a complaint was lodged with the Office of the Parliamentary Ombudsman in this regard, reported a Finnish language daily, Keskisuomalainen.

According to the complainant, practices at the refugee reception centre are contrary to the Finnish Immigration Service guidelines.

The cases are related to residents’ freedom and physical integrity.

For instance, there have been cases where asylum seekers were denied health care.

Also the asylum application process has been problematic.
