Anti-refugee demonstrations continued to take place at Forssa on Thursday, said the Häme police.

The ‘Finland First’ (Suomi ensin) staged a demonstration on the day demanding ejection of asylum seekers from Forssa.

The police said about a hundred demonstrators gathered in the area with a large crowd following them.

Police Inspector Tarja Lindstedt, however, described the atmosphere as peaceful.

The demonstrators were directed to a restricted area cordoned by a tape 50 metres away from the reception centre.

According to Tarja Lindstedt, the demonstrators were not allowed near the reception centres.

Suomi ensin ry, which organised the protest, had informed the police in advance about the demonstration.

Recently increased tensions between immigrants and residents of Forssa have resulted in clashes.

The town of Forssa in southwest Finland has become a showcase of increasing tension between local Finns and asylum seekers.

On Tuesday, a mass fighting erupted outside a reception centre in the town leading to casualties.

A local girl was injured in the mass brawl, said the police.  The girl suffered minor injuries. In addition to the assault on the girl, two offences of car vandalism have been reported, the police said.  The two cars, parked, were dented. Dozens of people are being interrogated in this regard.
