The Helsinki police on Thursday announced that they had uncovered a large heroin and amphetamine distribution case.

The head of investigation, Jari Nikonen said the police had confiscated many kilograms of amphetamine, a small amount of heroin, thousands of euro notes, and many firearms.

“A huge sum of money was being transferred, for instance, inside a Hello Kitty toy. A part of the amphetamine haul has been particularly strong, according to the National Bureau of Investigation’s forensic laboratory,” Nikonen said.

The police suspect that heroin, amphetamine and methamphetamine had been distributed mostly in Helsinki but also elsewhere in Finland.

Tens of people have been interrogated in the pre-trial investigation, of which 12 are in pre-trial detention.

The case has been moved to the prosecutor’s discretion

The police have investigated various entities that are connected to each other.

On the whole, the investigation has included harsh extortion and numerous assaults that the police say are connected to the drug trade.
