Locals and refugees residing in a reception centre on late Saturday night locked in a brawl in the Heikkiläntie school area of Nurmijärvi.

The police said the clash took place between two groups of locals and inmates of the reception centre on the parking lot of the school over personal matters, but it later erupted into a skirmish when many young people came and joined in.

According to the police, there were many dozens of people involved in the incident.

The situation, however, had calmed down before the police arrived at the scene.

The police are investigating why so many others became involved in the conflict.

The mêlée resulted in bruises, torn clothes, and some minor property damage.

The police are investigating a number of fights as assault.

No one was arrested after the clash.
