Prime Minister Juha Sipilä and Minister of Foreign Affairs Timo Soini were inside the House of Estates taking part in the Nordic-Arctic cooperation seminar during the protest.
The protesters demanded the protection of the Arctic and the unification of government policy.
According to the Greenpeace, Finland’s Arctic policy is underscored by business opportunities offered by the oil industry, even though the government has committed to the Paris Climate Agreement.
Halting catastrophic climate change requires that Arctic oil be left in the seabed, said Greenpeace in a statement.
Finland will hold the presidency of the Arctic Council from 2017 to 2019.
