The previous Chairman Outi Alanko-Kahiluoto ended his term due to the party's rotation princi-ples.
Olli-Poika Parviainen and Heli Järvinen were elected as the deputy chairs of the parliamentary group of the party.
Vihreät is currently the fourth most popular party in Finland.
A recent poll by national broadcaster Yle indicated that the support for the Greens is around 13.6 percent.
“Certainly we're satisfied that support [for the Green Party) has reached a new level, but it re-quires constant vigilance,” said Mikkonen.
Mikkonen is a first-term MP from Joensuu.
