A secretary and 7 police officers from the Oulu police department have been accused of unau-thorised access of the police registry.

According to the indictment, they illegally accessed an investigation notification in 2014. The notification concerned a traffic accident that led to the death of a retired police officer.

The suspects were read their charges in court in Oulu on Tuesday, including breach of official duty as well as personal data file offences.

The prosecutor has demanded punishments for both charges. The prosecutor is seeking 15-20 day fines as punishment.

Prior charges for data breaches from the Oulu police department have gone to the Ylivieska-Raahi and Kainuu district courts. The prosecutor's office said last winter that of the ten accused, all but one denied the charges.
