A man who had been beaten up at the station square in Helsinki on September 10 succumbed to his injuries in a hospital on Friday.
The Helsinki police are investigating the incident as murder.
Police Inspector Pekka Seppälä confirmed that preliminary investigation concerns the incident.
Seppälä, however, did not divulge the manner in which the assault was carried out, and if anyone has been detained in this connection.
“The same notification relates to a death, but I would not comment whether the death is related to the assault,” Seppälä said.
A post by the victim’s father spread to the social media which stated that the assault happened on September 10 at around 1:00 p.m. at Elielinaukio square in conjunction with an event organised by a resistance movement.
