A passer-by was beaten up outside the Helsinki central railway station where the Finnish Resistance Movement was holding a demonstration on September 10. The man succumbed to his injuries at the Helsinki Meilahti hospital on September 16. “The police are under the impression that he has been involved in founding the organization,” said the investigation leading Detective Chief Inspector Teemu Kruskopf. According to Kruskopf the police do not know whether the suspect has an official position in the organisation. The suspect was born in 1990. Kruskopf did not divulge whether the suspect has confessed the crime, and neither did he disclose details of the interrogation. According to Kruskopf the police have reached out for some eyewitnesses. The police will demand the suspect to be remanded with probable cause on Wednesday at the District Court of Helsinki. The demand for remand does not stipulate whether belonging to the neo-Nazi SVL organization aggravates the crime. “That is for the court to decide,” said Kruskopf. More News
