A woman, who was injured by a stun gun fired by a police, will receive a compensation totaling 90,000 euros from the state.

The police used stun guns in Jyväskylä in 2011 in which the 29-year-old woman fell and sus-tained a brain injury.

The Vaasa Court of Appeal held the police officer responsible in 2014 for negligent breach of duty and cause of personal injury.

Earlier, the woman was compensated for permanent disability, pain and suffering by the District Court of Central Finland.

The court, however, rejected the woman's claim for a 612,000 euro compensation for loss of earnings.

The woman was a trained hairdresser and beautician.

The court pointed out that the woman had a drug offence conviction, which pointed to the abuse of drugs.

The woman also had not been employed as a hairdresser and that her income in 2006-2010 period was low.

The news of the compensation was reported by Finnish commercial broadcaster MTV.
