One person was killed and two other sustained seriously burn injuries in a fire that broke out in an apartment building in Kemi late Friday night, said the rescue department.
The injured were sent to hospital for treatment.
The emergency response centre received alert about the fire from Valtakatu shortly after 10:00 p.m.
The victim was alone in his apartment in which the fire started hours before the alarm was raised.
The apartment was completely gutted. The injured were on the same floor as the apartment.
Eight other apartments suffered smoke damages, while dangerous carbon dioxide concentrations were measured in two other apartments.
The police are investigating into the cause of the fire.
