The Central Finland Police Department have completed pre-trial investigation of Facebook posts by Perussuomalaiset lawmaker Teuvo Hakkarainen.

The case of incitement against an ethnic group has been transferred for prosecution to the prose-cutor's office.

The preliminary investigation related to a Facebook post that Hakkarainen wrote is suspected of inciting hate speech against Muslims and immigrants.

Hakkarainen in July wrote after the Nice terrorist attack that “not all Muslims are terrorists, but all terrorists are Muslim.”

“Hakkarainen has admitted to writing the post, but denies having committed a crime,” said lead investigator Detective Chief Inspector Sami Salo.

According to Salo, the pre-trial investigation did not look into other posts by Hakkarainen.

The matter of Hakkarainen will be handled by the Perussuomalaiset (Finns Party) parliamentary group, once the legal process is finished, said that party’s parliamentatry group chairman Sampo Terho.

Terho believes that the prosecutor should be allowed to work in peace.

“I trust the Finnish rule of law. Time will tell whether Hakkarainen is guilty,” Terho told news agency STT.
