The police said earlier on Tuesday that the drowning incident in Raahe’s Pattijoki Lake was a case of murder. The 20-year-old youth was found dead in the river on Sunday morning.
According to the police, in the preliminary interrogation, the mother admitted to having caused the drowning of her son.
Detective Chief Inspector Ilkka Piispanen did not divulge the possible motive of the act, but told the news agency STT that the police are handling it.
On Sunday, rescue officials in Raahe received a notification of two people in the river, but only found one dead.
