Six people were killed in separate accidents at different parts of the country during the last couple of days.

A young man was killed in a car accident in the early hours of Saturday at Ilomantsi in North Karelia, the police said.

The private car skidded off and hit a rock and rolled over. The 23-year-driver from Joensuu who was alone in the car died on the spot, said the police.

Another person was killed in a head-on collision between a truck and a car at Sukeva Sonkajärvi in North Savonia.

In Heinola, Päijät-Häme, a car hit a rock, seriously injuring the driver on early Saturday morning. The accident took place at about 3:00 a.m. on the national road 4 near a junction at Lusi. There was no other passenger in the car.

According to the rescue department, the car was apparently being driven at a high speed.

The police said on Sunday that the body of a man was found on Thursday who was drowned in the river Ilomantsinjoki.

The police believe that the man died between Tuesday and Thursday. There is no suspicion of foul play in the incident.

In yet another incident, a woman was found dead in the Kokemäki River.

The rescue department was alerted that a woman had gone to the river fully dressed in Tulkkila.

Her body was recovered by the rescue department later. The police ruled out any foul play in this connection.

In Nokia, a man was found dead in a forest on Saturday morning.

The victim, a resident of Nokia, was over 40 years old.

Initial information showed that the man might have been a victim of crime; however, upon examination, the possibility of crime was ruled out.
