Charges have been pressed against Perussuomalaiset (Finns Party) leader Terhi Kiemunki for inciting people against an ethnic group.

According to the prosecutor, Kiemunki slandered and insulted Muslims in a blog post.

The Finns Party politician herself requested the investigation whether her post merited a penalty as by the law.

Kiemunki, however, has denied any wrong doing during the preliminary investigation.

The Finns Party Pirkanmaa district board suspended Kiemunki from her position of deputy chair of the executive body due to lack of confidence.

Kiemunki is, however, still the secretary to Finns Party lawmaker Lea Mäkipää.

State Prosecutor Jorma Äijälä said a person taking an initiative to request for investigation is exceptional. Äijälä refused to speculate the reason behind the intention of the request.
