The main opposition party Suomen Sosialidemokraattinen Puolue (Social Democratic Party of Finland-SDP) has the largest support among all the parties garnering 21.2 per cent of the votes in a survey conducted by the national broadcaster Yle.

The last polls of Yle conducted in September showed that both the SDP and the Suomen Keskusta (Centre Party) shared the top spot.

Support for the Keskusta fell in October to 19.6 per cent. The highest increase in support went to the Kansallinen Kokoomus (National Coalition Party) which, according to the poll, has received support from 18.8 per cent of the respondents.

Support for political parties has changed rapidly this year. Finnish market research firm Taloustutkimus Managing Director Jari Pajunen said, “Party loyalty being carved into stone doesn’t really happen these days, only with a small proportion [of voters].”

Taloustutkimus interviewed a total of 2,433 people on their political support, of which 1,430 gave their support to parties. The margin of errors for the main political parties is about 2.1 percentage points in either direction.
