Satu Siitonen-Heinäluoma, spouse of the Speaker of Parliament Eero Heinäluoma passed away on Thursday afternoon in Helsinki.
Siitonen succumbed to a short but severe illness and passed away peacefully at home, according Parliament's bulletin.
The speaker thanked the citizens for the support they showed. Heinäluoma spoke publicly of her spouse illness last August.
Satu Siitonen-Heinäluoma was a teacher by profession and they got married in 1988. The couple have three adult children.
