Source - Statistics Finland The total amount of wages and salaries paid in Finland has inched up over the past year, reports the Statistics Finland.
The sum of wages and salaries in the whole economy in the first quarter of 2013 was 1.1 per cent higher than that in the corresponding period of 2012.
In March alone, the sum of wages and salaries in the economy grew by 0.5 per cent.
In January to March 2012, the sum of wages and salaries had grown by 5.5 per cent year on year.
In January to March this year, the increase in the sums of wages and salaries was weaker in all main industries compared to that in the corresponding period of the previous year.
The sum of wages and salaries grew fastest in private health and social work services by 5.9 per cent.
The sum, on the other hand, posted a fall of 2.2 per cent in the manufacturing sector from that in the corresponding period of the previous year.
The sum of wages and salaries refers to the sum total of the gross wages and salaries paid to employees excluding stock options.
The sum of wages and salaries is influenced by changes in employment and in the income levels of wage and salary earners.
