The output of total industries adjusted for working days was 2.3 per cent lower in April 2014 than twelve months earlier, according to Statistics Finland.
 
In the January to April period, the industrial output adjusted for working days went down by 4.8 per compared with the corresponding period in 2013.

Seasonally adjusted output fell by 0.5 per cent from March in April. In March, seasonally adjusted output was 0.9 per cent higher than in February. In February output increased by 0.4 per cent from the previous month.
 
Production of electricity declined most, by 16.4 per cent. Output in the metal industry fell by 6.1 per cent. Output increased most, or by as much as 30.5 per cent, in mining and quarrying. In the food industry, output grew by 9.3 per cent. Output in the chemical industry was 4.4 per cent up on twelve months back.

Capacity utilisation rate in manufacturing (C) was 81.2 per cent in April, or 0.3 percentage points lower than one year earlier. In the forest industry, capacity utilisation rate was 85.7 per cent in April, or 0.8 percentage points lower than in April 2013.
 
In the metal industry, capacity utilisation rate was 82.5 per cent in April, which was 0.1 percentage points lower than one year earlier.
