A total of 16,928 new motor vehicles were registered in April 2015, of which 10,870 were automobiles.

The number of new passenger cars registered was 9,633, which was 3.4 per cent up from the year before, according to Statistics Finland.

First registrations decreased by 0.6 per cent in April from the corresponding month of the previous year.  

The share of new diesel-driven passenger cars was 36.7 per cent as per the data based on the Vehicular and Driver Data Register of the Finnish Transport Safety Agency.

The numbers are exclusive of the vehicles on the Åland Islands.

In the January to April period of 2015, a total of 60,952 vehicles were first registered. Compared to the year before, there was a decrease of 3.4 per cent.

The number of passenger cars first registered in the January to April period was 38,989, which is 2.1 per cent down from the year before.

The most common passenger car makes first registered in the January to April period were Volkswagen, Toyota and Skoda, the data show.
