The value of exports in April stood at 4.8 billion euros compared 4.2 billion euros of imports in the same month, according to the preliminary statistics of foreign trade of goods provided by Finnish Customs.

The value of exports increased by one per cent while the value of imports decreased compared to the previous year, confirmed the statement from the Finnish Customs.

From the beginning of the year, exports have declined by two per cent while imports have dropped by seven per cent.

The trade balance in April showed a surplus of 545 million euros. Compared to April last year, the trade balance posted a deficit of 375 million euros.

The deficit stood at 120 million euros from January to April. Compared to the same period last year, the balance of trade reflected a deficit of 1,275 million euros.

Exports to EU member states decreased by four per cent in April, while exports to non-EU countries increased by eight per cent.

Imports from EU countries decreased by three per cent and imports from non-EU countries fell by 36 per cent.

From the beginning of the year, exports to EU decreased by two per cent and diminished by one per cent to non-EU countries. During the same period imports from EU member states fell by one per cent and declined from other countries by 17 per cent.
