The Supreme Court has increased the fines levied against Alma Media CEO Kai Telanne for workplace discrimination against Johanna Korhonen.

Telanne was convicted of discrimination on the basis of familial relationships and sexual orientation with a 40-day fine of 18,000 euros. Previously, the Helsinki Appeals Court had handed down a lesser 15-day fine.

Korhonen was elected the editor-in-chief of Lapin Kansa in 2008. Her employment was terminated when, among other things, information that Korhonen has a female spouse became known to her employers.
