Fifty-one per cent of the lawmakers surveyed by the national broadcaster Yle would not grant permit for a new nuclear power during the current parliamentary term in case the
Fennovoima nuclear power plant does not materialise.

However, 31 per cent of the MPs would still back a decision for a new nuclear power plant even, if the Fennovoima power plant project is not actualised.

Eighteen per cent or one-fifth of the lawmakers could not tell or did not want to answer the question.

The government will evaluate the Fennovoima nuclear power plant construction permit application at a meeting scheduled for August 6.
