Prime Minister Juha Sipilä on Saturday said that Finland does not intend to change its line regarding the cutting of Greek debt, reported national broadcaster Yle.

The International Monetary Fund on Thursday announced their participating of a third rescue package to Greece, but only if Greece and the European Union can come to a sustainable agreement on debt relief and economic reforms.

According to Sipilä there was no EU country that was for the Greek debt cuts. Greece and the EU want a third rescue package ready for mid August.

Greece’s 3.2 billion euro loan with the European central bank matures on August 20th.

Sipilä highlighted the fact that the negotiations on the Greek aid programme were just being launched this week.

“Less than a month's time to negotiate and in that time the solution must be found,” he said.

On Friday, the European Commission representative Mina Andreeva said that it was clear that the IMF's policies and schedules were different from those of the EU.

Andreeva, however, was of the opinion that the IMF's requirements for the Greek debt relief were compatible with the EU's plans.
