The leader of the Opposition in Parliament and the chair of the Suomen Sosialidemokraattinen Puolue (Social Democratic Party of Finland-SDP), Antti Rinne on Monday said the social agreement is a purely political revenue solution.

In an interview with the national broadcaster YLE, the SDP chair justified this claim with the fact that the negotiations refer only to generating income and issues related to labour unions.

Rinne rejected the extension of working hours and lowering of wages as a means to reducing labour costs.

The government has set a target in the social agreement for a five per cent reduction in labour costs.
