Fire broke out at the Stora Enso power plant in Nuottasaari district of Oulu at around 4 pm on Sunday, reported Kaleva, a Finnish language daily.

The fire started from the power plant at the factory, said the rescue department.

The blaze was extinguished by the rescue department who were alerted to the scene. The situation was left under the control of the staff at the factory.

No personal injuries were reported during the incident and the smoke was not harmful to the environment.

The fire was possibly caused by a short circuit at the factory's power plant, said Jaakko Hettula, the manager of the Stora Enso power plant.

“We are trying to get the air clean so that we can get to examine the whole damage caused by the fire,” Hettula added.

The electrical fire is not expected to lead to the suspension of production since the factory was preparing to shut down for a few days.
