The value of new orders in manufacturing was 54.4 per cent higher in June 2015 than twelve months earlier, according to Statistics Finland.
The strong growth is caused by a few large orders in the metal industry. The orders rose by 9.1 per cent year-on-year during January to June.
The growth was strongest in the metal industry, where the value of orders was as much as 82.6 per cent up on the year before.
In the metal industry, orders increased particularly due to the large new orders in the shipbuilding industry.
In the industry of paper manufacturing and that of paper and paper board products, orders grew by 15 per cent year-on-year.
The orders declined by 6.2 per cent in the chemical industry and by 4 per cent in the textile industry from the previous year.
The index of new orders in manufacturing describes development in the value of new orders received by enterprises for commodities and services that are meant to be produced by establishments located in Finland.
