The sum total of wages and salaries in the whole economy was 1.5 per cent higher in April to June period than in the corresponding period of the previous year, according to Statistics Finland's data.
 
The pay amount grew strongest in construction sector, being 3.7 per cent.
 
In June alone, the wages and salaries sum of the whole economy grew by 1.1 per cent from one year ago.
 
The wages and salaries sum of the whole economy increased by 0.5 per cent in April to June period one year ago.
 
The wages and salaries sum went up in almost all main industries during the second quarter of the year. The wages and salaries sum also increased in private health and social work (3.4%), other services (2.9%), financial intermediation (1.7%) and trade (0.8%), the data show.
 
In contrast, the wages and salaries sum fell in the public sector providing training services by 0.4 per cent from one year back.
 
The wages and salaries paid in the private sector was 2.2 per cent greater in the April to June period than in the respective time period twelve months earlier. At the same time, the wages and salaries sum in the public sector grew by 0.3 per cent year-on-year.
 
In June alone, the total amount of wages and salaries in the private sector grew by 1.7 per cent. In contrast, the wages and salaries sum in the public sector in June was on level with the previous year.
 
In the April to June period one year ago, the wages and salaries sum grew by 1.2 per cent in the private sector and fell by 0.5 per cent in the public sector from one year back as per the statistics.
 
The wages and salaries sum refers to the sum total of the gross wages and salaries paid to employees without incentive stock options.
