Turnover in manufacturing in the March to May this year was 3.8 per cent lower than in the corresponding period of the year before, according to Statistics Finland.
 
Domestic sales contracted by 2.3 per cent and export turnover by 4.9 per cent from one year ago.
 
The sub-industries of manufacturing (C) were evenly divided into both contracted and grown ones.
 
A little more turnover than last year was generated in the forest industry, 1.2 per cent. In the textile, clothing and leather industry, it was 0.4 per cent, and in the metal industry, 0.1 per cent.
 
The turnover contracted year-on-year in other industries as per the data.
 
The decline was fastest in the chemical industry, down by 18.1 per cent.
